I thought it would be interesting to put together two completely contrasting fashion companies together, both which I saw at the Warsaw Fashion Weekend. Agutti- a company raised in creating completely classic formal gowns and wedding dresses, went out into the world in 2005.
Since then, Agutti has dressed Polish stars such as Edyta Gorniak and Kasia Zielinska as well as theatrical performances and programmes. The brand has appeared on many Polish catwalks and seems to be a firm staple in the Polish market. I did not see anything particular about this brand- they describe who they are by their label. They are practical, sturdy formal gowns- they are ‘power gowns’ indeed.
On the other side, you have Sloma Trymbulak- a company set up by Jola Sloma and Mirek Trymbulak, a powerfully creative couple from Gdańsk, whose original designs have caught on in a couple of fashion areas. Their love for the existential and the unusual has extended into their designs, as well as other projects they partake in- food, music and general well being. As many of the other similarly minded designers, their designs do not distinguish between male and female- they try to base more on the spiritual energy that comes from the clothes as opposed to more limited genderised conventions.
Here are a couple of good contrasts of the collections- each collection I will put into the next post.
