We had always planned to visit an onsen during our multiple trips to Japan and had never had the pleasure of being in one yet. Having heard that the experience can vary greatly depending on if the ryokan is more modern or not, we decided to stay in an authentic Japanese onsen with a modern touch that would be both comfortable and traditional at the same time!
